Elevator Recall Made Easy

NFPA 72 states in facilities without a building fire alarm system, initiating devices used to initiate fire fighters’ service recall shall be connected to a dedicated function fire alarm control unit. Both electrical contractors and fire alarm dealers have found success with the Silent Knight 5700 addressable fire alarm control panel in elevator recall applications. The 5700 has the flexibility to meet national and local codes that may differ from locality to locality. It is important you become familiar with the version of the various standards that have been adopted locally and how your AHJ interprets the code.

The 5700 can perform the following elevator recall functions

  • Elevator “Capture” to Primary or Alternative Floor
  • Elevator “Shunt Trip”
  • Cab Lamp Activation
  • Addressable Heat and Smoke Detectors for applications with sprinkler heads at the top of the hoist way and/or elevator machine room
  • 2-Count Feature – Two detectors on the same floor must activate before recall is initiated

Up to 50 detectors (smokes/heats) and 50 modules (relays) can be connected to the 5700 using System Sensor protocol.
